The whole app is one heart and one honest line beneath it.
No confirmation sheet, no press-and-hold, no recipient to pick — there is only ever one person it could be going to. The watch talks to the service itself, so a hello leaves your wrist whether or not your phone is anywhere near you. What reaches the other end is a name, four words, and a light going out.

It's a private moment between two humans. Everything below is something The Quiet Hello deliberately isn't, and each one would have turned a gesture into an obligation. A hello you have to keep up with is not a hello.

What is left is a single signal with a single meaning. It cannot be used to say anything else, which is exactly why it can be sent without thinking twice about how it will be read.
Pairing
Just the two of you
One link, sent once, to one person.
Setting it up happens on iPhone, and it happens once. After that, it lives on your wrist.
You send a link
Choose the name they will see, then share the invitation however the two of you already talk. It lasts 72 hours, works once, and you can revoke it.
They tap it
It opens in an App Clip, so there is nothing to install before they can accept. The full app comes afterwards, with the connection already waiting for them.
That is the pair
One connection each. Either of you can end it without the other's permission, and doing so revokes the routing in both directions at once.
